Stacey N. Doan, Phd

Dr. Doan is an expert on how emotions influence health, emotionally intelligent parenting, and stress management.
She is currently an assistant professor at Claremont Mckenna College, and Director of the Applied Mind and Health Laboratory.
In July, 2017, she also started as Director of the Berger Institute for Work, Family and Children.

Dr. Stacey N. Doan is a health psychologist with an interest in understanding how psychosocial factors like family, poverty, and cultural practices "get underneath the skin" to influence physical health and psychological well-being. In particular, her research is on the role of emotions, self-control, and social relationships (namely parenting). Her research has been published in the top developmental and health journals.
Her book The Social Foundations of Emotion: Cultural, Developmental and Clinical issues will be released July, 2018!
Dr. Doan has also serve as a consultant for companies interested in designing products to improve the health and well-being of children. She is particularly interested in working with start-ups to evaluate the effectiveness of their products, and to generate insights for new innovations. On occasion, she does some life-coaching. February, 2017. Dr. Doan is the recipient of the Western Psychological Association Early Career Award and the Society for Research on Child Development - Asian Caucus.
September, 2016. Dr Doan gave a lecture at Pomona College, "Maternal shaping of the stress response."
